My partner and i wonder whether furniture can really develop any better than this: an Eames-style sofa, woven from the awesome chemical that is carbon fibre. This might be home heaven.
The brainchild of Matt Strong, the sofa uses 12k carbon fibre tow to form what may resemble a woven caning pattern. The actual geometry of the weave makes it long lasting but light, and the pattern was just thought through to maximise cross-bond adhesion. Deep explains to Mocoloco:
"It's clear appearance lays bare its own construction strategy, and allows visual access to all parts of the base, giving it an handsome coherence that feels both uncanny and curiously natural… Each technology of the design was thicker than the proven last in order to strengthen it great enough to hold multiple sitters. "
Ordinarily. In fact , the design is based on a series of extruded fibreglass shell armchair prototypes that are seen at the Henry Ford Adult ed in Dearborn, Michigan. Wherever it is from, we know we're in love with the site. [Mocoloco]
