The term "microgrid" is used to explain an energy "islanding" capability, whereby some sort of campus or grouping of complexes, has the ability to operate independently from the electrically powered grid and other centralized power methods, creating its own smaller grid, quite simply. Typically microgrids are utilized for armed bases, hospitals, or other complexes campuses that involve critical electrical energy loads. But increasingly, Microgrids are utilized in a wider range of situations, inexpensive viewed as a viable solution to improve power stability.
